In October of 2002, The Velaslavasay PANORAMA hosted a series of Seances in an effort to reach La Marchesa Luisa Casati. In the veritable tradition of parlour-seance, Cristo Bulan acted as the Spirit Facilitator, while Miss Magda Rockmore served as medium. Sitters who participated in the Seance were first greeted in the moonlight by our charismatic host, Mr. Dark, who escorted them to the Velaslavasay garden where they sampled wine, hot cider, bread and crackers, fine cheeses and broiled oysters under a decorative outdoor canopy amongst live organ accompaniment. Guests also had the opportunity to consult with a renowned fortune teller - Ms. Jamie Jameson. The Seance itself was conducted within the walls of the Panorama, surrounded by the 360-degrees painting of The Valley of the Smokes. Each sitting could accommodate 15-20 guests wishing to contact The Marchesa. After the Seance, coffee and dessert were served once again in the garden with more organ music from the esteemed Mr. Uncertain. Guests were then given a special commemorative item with which to remember the occasion - a miniature Ouija Board.

The Casati Seance series was held in collaboration with Spirit Facilitator Cristo Bulan and Medium Miss Magda Rockmore of the The Travelling Wonder Show. To learn more of their dazzled exploits please visit www.travellingwondershow.com to learn more.

The Belle Epoque's most notorious socialite, The Marchesa was known for her theatrical and macabre extraragance, which included her diamond-leashed cheetahs and gold-leafed servants. At the Venetian Palazzo dei Leoni, this mythic persona created a world of eccentric magnificence which has yet to be paralleled.
